Twenty Eight and Counting
It’s my birthday.
I got a birthday message on Myspace:
Happy Happy Bday! Hope its a good one. I doubt it will involve alcohol and a lost joint down by the creek!! Anyways, hope your bday is excellent!
Now, that’s a reference to my 16th birthday, which was indeed celebrated “down by the creek.” The fact that my 16th was held in “the creek,” let alone “down” in “the creek” really tells you all you need to know about my high school experience.
I had forgotten about that lost joint. It wasn’t mine, and I had very little interest in it, but some people were quite disappointed. I suppose, too, that the fact that we had “a lost joint,” as in, a single solitary joint, as opposed to say, a bag, says something, too. A single joint and the worlds cheapest alcohol.
The high life.
Hee.
This year I have cake. Which I get to worry about eating, for fear of too much sugar being bad for me.
Not nearly as much fun. But, much less chance of drunken snake bites, Texas sunburn, or sand up your butt.
